| 12-4-10 | Toys for Tots charity benefit. We raised over $400 and about 100 toys for Toys for Tots! Thanks to the "Dance Time" studio for teaming up with us, and thank you to everyone who performed. The night was a huge success thanks to all of you! Pictures are here |
| 10-02-10 | Tournament of Champions Begins!We are going to hold a six-week competition between our students and staff. Our theme for the six weeks will be “Dancing Through the Ages”. Each will include different themes leading up to the Celebration Ball. Students can win points through all of our contests and try to win prizes! To get into the tournament you must sponsor your teacher for $35. Join the Contest this weekend by bringing a friend and sponsoring your favorite teacher! | 7-24-10 | Weekly Videos are back! After a brief summer absence, the weekly videos are back in production. The latest is East Coast Swing, with a surprise (and cute) ending. You can find it on our weekly video page. Don't forget our Monday review class that let's you practice and ask questions about the Friday and Saturday dances. |
| 7-23-10 | Proyecto Tango - the all day Argentine Tango event held at Fatcat Ballroom was a great success. Each of three different instructors presented two hour classes to a wide variety of students - those experienced with Argentine Tango and those who were new to it. Each instructor had a different style, leaving no doubt that this dance is truly a Performing ART. Several of the students took all classes from all three instructors, and were - well - TIRED at the end of a day, but it was a good tired. The Milonga (dance party for the Argentine Tango) began at 8 PM and most of the students stayed for it, as well as some who came for the party alone. In short, it was enjoyable, well attended, and well produced. Thanks to Stephen Marino, Julie DeBacco, and all the Fatcat staff that helped organize and host this event. Well Done! "Viva Las Vegas" Dance CompetitionWhat happens in Vegas... well it won't stay there when Fatcat brings home the trophies! Fatcat students and teachers will be going to Las Vegas on July 10 -11, 2010 for the "Viva Las Vegas" dance competition, put on by World Promotions Inc. Newcomer through Championship levels in all adult age categories are available for adult dancers of all skill levels. The event will be held at the newly renovated Treasure Island Hotel and Casino and each night will leave you time to enjoy the Vegas night life. | 4-22-10 | New Sunday Workshop Classes for the SummerWith Swing Sunday School on hiatus until mid-september, Fatcat will be offering progressive workshops in Charleston, Lindy Hop, Foxtrot and East Coast Swing. Starting Sunday, May 2 and continuing through May from 2pm to 6pm. The dances will start off with the basic mechanics and timing and new elements and techniques will be added as the weeks go by. Each class will include a review of previous classes and a preview of subsequent classes. It will be at the instructors' discretion whether someone may enter the class after the 3rd week. | 4-4-10 | Julie and Terry rank 4th in the World!During the weekend of March 27th, 2010, Terry Schmoyer and Julie De Bacco competed against other Pro-am couples from around the world in the Bahamas. After long days of dancing and tough competition, Terry and Julie finished 6th place in Smooth and 4th place in Rhythm! The competition was held at the internationally renowned Atlantis Resort and Casino on Paradise Island, Bahamas - a tropical, beautiful setting perfect for an international event! Terry and Julie were also selected to be models for "Proyecto Tango" , the newest project of photographer Stephen Marion. You can see the photos on our web site gallery. Congratulations to Julie and Terry, now ranking 6th in the world for Smooth 4th in the world for Rhythm Ballroom Dancing, and sending the Fatcat reputation around the world! |
